I welded this owl when I was a student at the Silvermine Art School in New Canaan, Connecticut. Originally, I didn’t know where the owl would make his home, so I simply mounted him to a couple of stacked logs.
For a couple years he lived in New Canaan on the logs and then made his way north to New Hampshire. The logs also made their way north and supported the owl for about a year while I tried to figure out where the best place to finally make the owls permanent perch. He’s no longer on the logs, but I don’t think he’s in his permanent perch either.
