Sunshine

“Make the sun stop looking at me, Mommy!” my daughter would say to me on bright sunny days. She has blue eyes and fair skin and hair and was always very sensitive to the sun. That was over 20 years ago now and she has learned to wear sunglasses and a hat to protect her eyes and skin.

With the promise of warmer temperatures and sunnier days ahead, songs of sunshine come to mind. There are a few songs that refer to sunshine – my mother’s favorite song Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In by the 5th Dimension, Sunshine on My Shoulders by John Denver and Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves. Here are a few to enjoy if you are looking to put a smile on your face and dance around in the sunshine.

The Fifth Dimension
Katrina and the Waves
The Beatles
The Grateful Dead
Bruce Springsteen

And finally one that I used to sing to my kids when they were little…

Willie Nelson

Here is to sunnier days on the horizon for all of us. This post is part of Eugi’s Weekly Prompt “Sunshine” – May 4, 2020.
